प्रयाग भारत, देहरादूनः उत्तराखंड के रूड़की स्थित भारतीय प्रोद्यौगिकी संस्थान (आईआईटी) के एक वरिष्ठ प्रोफेसर को नौकरी से बर्खास्त कर दिया गया। दरअसल, वरिष्ठ प्रोफेसर पर पीएचडी कर रही एक शोध छात्रा का यौन उत्पीड़न करने का आरोप लगा है। आईआईटी रूड़की ने बयान जारी करके बर्खास्तगी की पुष्टि की है।
जारी बयान के मुताबिक, रहमान को बर्खास्त किया गया। एक शोध छात्रा ने जनवरी में उनके खिलाफ यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोप लगाए थे। एक आंतरिक जांच पैनल द्वारा दोषी पाए जाने के बाद उन्हें नौकरी से बर्खास्त किया गया। बर्खास्त किए जाने के समय उनके अधीन 15 से ज्यादा शोधार्थी पीएचडी कर रहे थे। संस्थान के सूत्रों ने बुधवार को बताया कि जिलुर रहमान (60) रूड़की स्थित आईआईटी के कुछ सबसे वरिष्ठ प्रोफेसर में से एक थे और पूर्व में अग्रणी संस्थान में प्रबंधन अध्ययन विभाग के प्रमुख भी रहे थे।
आईआईटी रूड़की ने एक बयान जारी करके कहा कि संस्थान के एक संकाय सदस्य को उसके विरुद्ध अनुशासनात्मक कार्यवाही पूरी होने के बाद सेवा से बर्खास्त किया गया है। बयान में कहा गया है कि आईआईटी रुड़की पेशेवर नैतिकता और संस्थागत अखंडता के उच्चतम मानकों को बनाए रखने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। संस्थान के इतिहास में ऐसी घटना पहली बार हुई है।
